Privacy Policy
Last updated June 20, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Roamia collects, uses, and discloses information about you when you use our mobile application and related services.
1. Who we are
Roamia (“Roamia,” “we,” “our,” or “us”) is operated by:
- Legal name: Roamia LLC
- Contact email: hello@traveledin.ai
2. Scope
This Privacy Policy applies to the Roamia mobile application and related services, including account creation, trip tracking, automatic stop detection, photo and video capture, AI-assisted captions and summaries, your private trip archive, and the optional publishing of public travel stories (collectively, the “Services”).
3. Summary of what the app does
Roamia is a travel memory app that helps you:
- Track active trips using GPS in the foreground and background
- Automatically detect meaningful stops based on where you linger
- Attach photos and videos to trips and stops
- Draft captions and trip summaries with AI assistance that labels its sources
- Keep a private, searchable archive of your travels
- Optionally publish selected trips as shareable public stories
4. Information we collect
We collect information you provide, information collected automatically while you use the app, and information from third-party services you choose to connect.
4.1 Information you provide
- Account details: name, email address, and password (or an identifier from a sign-in provider)
- Trip and stop data: trip titles, dates, manually added stops, place names, categories, and notes you enter
- Media: photos and videos you upload, and any captions you write or edit
- Feedback and support messages you submit
4.2 Information collected automatically
- Precise location data (GPS): latitude/longitude, timestamp, accuracy, speed, heading, and movement/activity type — collected only while a trip is active and tracking is enabled
- Trip data derived from location: routes, segments, detected stops, dwell time, and distances
- Media metadata: EXIF information such as capture date/time and, when present, the location embedded in your photos, used to place media on your map and timeline
- Device data: device model, OS version, app version, and time zone
- Usage and diagnostics data: app events, errors, and performance logs
- Offline cache data: stored on your device so capture works without a connection and syncs later
4.3 Information from third parties
- Authentication identifiers from sign-in providers (e.g., Google Sign-In, Apple Sign-In, and Firebase Authentication)
- Place names and map data from reverse-geocoding and mapping providers
Roamia does not currently offer paid features and does not collect payment information. If we introduce paid features in the future, we will update this policy.
5. How we use your information
We use information to:
- Provide trip tracking, automatic stop detection, and route visualization
- Organize your trips, stops, media, and notes into a searchable private archive
- Generate AI-assisted captions and summaries from your own content and metadata
- Publish and display the stories you explicitly choose to make public
- Moderate public content and maintain security, prevent abuse, and enforce our terms
- Improve app performance and reliability
- Respond to support requests and user communications
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for third-party advertising.
6. Location data and background tracking
Roamia requires location access to provide its core capture features.
- Location is collected in the foreground and background only while a trip is active and you have enabled tracking.
- Stop detection runs on your device: location samples are clustered locally to detect places where you stay for a while, which become candidate stops for you to review.
- You can stop location collection at any time by pausing or stopping tracking, or by revoking location permission in your device settings.
- If your device is offline, location and capture data may be stored locally and uploaded when connectivity returns.
7. Photos, video, and EXIF
Photos and videos you add are stored in private cloud storage and served through short-lived, signed links rather than public URLs. We read EXIF metadata (such as capture time and embedded location, when present) to suggest which stop a photo belongs to and to place it on your map and timeline. You can edit or delete media at any time.
8. AI features and your content
Roamia uses AI to draft stop captions and trip summaries from your own notes, media, photo metadata, and route context. Our approach is built around transparency:
- Every AI-generated detail is labeled by its source — your note, photo metadata, an auto-detected stop, or an AI-suggested nearby place — so you can tell what is yours versus inferred.
- AI assists with drafting only; you always review, edit, and own the final content.
- We do not use your personal content to train third-party foundation models. Processing may be performed by third-party AI providers acting on our instructions under contract.
9. Public stories and the feed
Your trips are private by default. Content only becomes public when you explicitly publish a story. When you publish, the selected route, stops, media, captions, and your creator name become visible to others and may appear in public discovery or the feed and be indexed by search engines. You can unpublish or delete a story at any time, though copies others made or cached before removal may persist outside our control. You are responsible for ensuring you have the right to publish the content you share, including the privacy of other people who appear in it.
10. Sharing and disclosure
We share information only as necessary to provide the Services or comply with law.
10.1 Service providers
- Cloud infrastructure and storage providers (for app data and media files)
- Authentication providers (Firebase Authentication, Google, Apple)
- AI processing providers (for drafting captions and summaries, and content moderation)
- Mapping, geocoding, and place-name providers
- Observability and logging providers (to measure reliability and performance)
These providers are permitted to process data only on our instructions and for the Services.
10.2 Legal requirements
We may disclose information if required to do so by law, or to protect our rights, our users, or the public.
10.3 Business transfers
If Roamia is involved in a merger, acquisition, or asset sale, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction.
11. Data retention
We retain personal information as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Services and to meet legal obligations. When you request account deletion, we will delete or anonymize personal data within 60 days from active systems, and within 180 days from backups, unless retention is required by law.
12. Data security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards, including:
- Encryption in transit (TLS)
- Encryption at rest for stored trip and location data
- Separation of encryption keys from stored data using a managed key vault, so stored records cannot be viewed in plaintext without the keys
- Access controls that limit internal access
- Short-lived signed URLs and owner-scoped storage for media
- Secure on-device storage for sensitive tokens
No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
13. Your choices and privacy rights
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have rights to:
- Access, correct, or delete your personal information
- Export your data
- Object to or restrict certain processing
- Withdraw consent for location tracking at any time
You can manage permissions in your device settings, delete content in the app, or contact us at hello@traveledin.ai to exercise these rights.
14. Children’s privacy
Roamia is not intended for children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16.
15. International data transfers
Roamia may process and store data in the United States and other countries where our service providers operate. These locations may have different data protection laws than your country.
16. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will update the “Last updated” date and, where required, notify users of material changes.
